Tsok, also known as tsok offering or ganachakra, is a joyful and deeply meaningful practice found throughout the Vajrayana tradition. The word tsok means “gathering”—a gathering of practitioners, a gathering of offerings, and most importantly, a gathering of all the qualities of wisdom and compassion we aspire to cultivate. Tsok is a feast of spiritual nourishment, offered with pure intention to our master, ZaChoeje Rinpoche, his lineage masters, the meditational deities, and all beings seen and unseen. At its heart, tsok is a practice of restoring harmony. When we come together on the specific lunar days sacred to each deity—traditionally the 10th day for Guru Padmasambhava and the 25th lunar day we enter a stream of blessings that has flowed unbroken for centuries. In these moments, practitioners around the world join in a single great mandala of offering, reconnecting with the enlightened energy of our lineage and renewing our vows of kindness, clarity, and courage. During tsok, simple foods and drinks become symbols of pure wisdom. Through mantra, visualization, and heartfelt offering, they are transformed into vast clouds of offerings filling the entire sky. We then joyfully share this blessed feast with each other, remembering that generosity is the cause of both spiritual and worldly abundance. In this way, tsok both purifies obscurations and gathers great merit, strengthening our connection to our teachers and the awakened mind within us. The benefits of tsok are many and profound. It mends broken samaya, revitalizes our spiritual practice, clears obstacles, and refreshes our commitment to the path. It supports harmony within our community, brings auspicious conditions, and deepens our relationship with our diety and protectors. Even a single sincere tsok offering has the power to generate vast merit, to dissolve emotional turbulence, and to open our hearts to compassion. Practicing tsok each month—on the Guru Rinpoche Day—keeps our practice alive, steady, and bright. It is like tending a sacred fire: every offering keeps the flame of wisdom and devotion burning strong. Through tsok we remember our innate goodness, nourish our spiritual family, and dedicate all virtue so that all beings may experience freedom, peace, and lasting happiness.
