Green Tara Event

Green Tara, the swift and compassionate mother of all the Buddhas, is the embodiment of enlightened activity. Her vibrant emerald-green form represents the freshness of new life, the energy of courage, and the ever-present readiness to respond to the suffering of living beings. Tara’s right foot gently steps forward, showing that she is always prepared to act, always turning her compassion into immediate help and protection. The name Tara means “She Who Liberates.” She is the one who rescues us from our inner and outer fears—fear of illness, fear of danger, fear of obstacles, fear of confusion, and all the subtle fears that keep our hearts closed. When we visualize her smiling, youthful presence before us, we invite her fearless, loving energy into our own minds, reminding us that we, too, can meet life with wisdom, clarity, and great compassion. Traditionally, the 8th day of the lunar month is especially devoted to Green Tara practice. On this sacred day, practitioners gather to recite her praises and her mantra— Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha—calling upon her swift blessings. Around the world, monastics and lay practitioners alike unite in the wish that Tara’s protection and courage spread throughout the universe. Practicing on Tara Day strengthens our connection to her liberating presence and renews our confidence on our path. The monthly benefits of Green Tara practice are gentle yet profound. Tara clears obstacles before they take root and dispels fear before it overwhelms us. She brings harmony into our daily life, increases our merit and good conditions, and supports both spiritual and worldly activities. Her practice nurtures inner confidence, softens emotional struggles, and helps us move through life with resilience and a compassionate heart. Green Tara is the mother who hears our cries instantly. Turning to her each month keeps our hearts grounded in courage and kindness. Through visualizing her radiant form, reciting her mantra, and dedicating our practice to all beings, we become more attuned to the qualities she embodies—swiftness, compassion, fearlessness, and the unwavering wish to free all beings from suffering. In practicing Green Tara regularly, we learn to walk her path of loving action, and gradually we become a source of comfort, protection, and joy for the world.
